HOW TO MAKE ROADS MORE HUMAN

The challenge was to implement a cycle path on an interurban road and apply cold recycling technologies to reduce the carbon footprint in the rehabilitation of the road surface.

Parma Engineering has developed a project for the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda titled: “Structural rehabilitation of the road surface and implementation of the Cycle Route. Highway N-330. Mileage points 633,240 to 642,790. Section: Sabiñánigo – Jaca. Province of Huesca.”

This project has a budget of 3.3 million euros and an expected execution period of 8 months, covering 9.5 km of the N-330 highway between Sabiñánigo and Jaca. A notable aspect of this project is the introduction of a bicycle lane on a conventional interurban road, which will involve limiting vehicle speed to 50 km/h. Additionally, appropriate horizontal and vertical signage will be implemented to ensure that bicycle lanes have priority over general traffic at intersections and highway accesses.

General plan of the project

This will increase safety on this section of the popular Quebrantahuesos cycling route.
